What is PLA? PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a bioplastic derived from fermented plant starches like corn, cassava, or sugarcane. Unlike petroleum-based plastics (like ABS or polypropylene), PLA is:

• Biodegradable under industrial composting conditions (breaks down in 3-6 months)
• Non-toxic and food-safe when properly manufactured
• Produces 60% less greenhouse gases during production vs. petroleum plastics

  Is PLA perfect? No material is without environmental impact. PLA requires industrial composting facilities to biodegrade (not just your backyard compost). However, it's significantly better than alternatives and represents a meaningful step toward sustainable manufacturing.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning: Wipe with soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. For stubborn marks, use slightly damp cloth with mild soap avoid soaking. Never use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads.
Placement: Keep away from direct sunlight, which can cause gradual fading over months/years. Avoid extreme heat (above 50°C/122°F) near radiators, ovens, or heating vents, as PLA can soften and warp.
For Lamps: Use LED bulbs only (15W maximum). Never exceed recommended wattage. LED bulbs produce minimal heat and won't damage PLA lampshades. Dust regularly to prevent buildup in geometric patterns.
For Vases: Standard vases are for dried/faux stems only. If you've ordered waterproof coating, empty and dry completely between uses to prevent mold or mildew growth.
Longevity: With proper care, 3D printed PLA items last for many years. The material is surprisingly durable resistant to everyday bumps and drops. Slight surface variations are normal and add to the handmade character.
